Polruan’s village shop and the ferry to Fowey are all within easy walking distance. Unloading is possible within 20 yards and parking is available in the main car park which is approximately 300 yards away. Private parking is available upon request and is subject to availability and is within 100 yards of the properties.
Polruan is based on the south coast of Cornwall on the river Fowey. There are two pubs in the village, The Lugger and The Russell offering an excellent range of food at very reasonable prices, a small café, Polruan stores and The Winklepicker shop. From the traditional Cornish quay you will find a passenger ferry that will take you across to Fowey with its numerous shops, restaurants and bars. The beauty of Polruan is that it is unspoilt, being built on the side of a hill with narrow streets full of charm and virtually car free.
The immediate area is surrounded by many miles of delightful coast and countryside much of which is in the ownership of the National Trust. Award winning restaurants, small boutique hotels, shops and excellent public houses etc. have helped to establish the locality as a popular, high quality, destination.
If you enjoy walking, there is the Coastal path to Lantic Bay, or if you are really fit you can walk on to Polperro (approx 6 miles) The Hall Walk from Polruan to Bodinnick is approximately 4 miles and brings you down to the Bodinnick ferry where you can cross to Fowey for a well deserved drink (Pinky Murphys is always popular).
August bank holiday is a must if you enjoy a carnival with Fowey Regatta starting the festivities usually the week before with activities every night ending with the candle lit procession down the river which is followed by a spectacular firework display. The following week Polruan has its carnival with a band and fancy dress for all ages.
